The USS Hornet Museum is a legendary warship anchored on the shores of Alameda, CA. The aircraft carrier, turned museum, boasts an impressive display of military aircraft and memorabilia from WW2, Vietnam and the Apollo lunar landings.
In 2001, during the period of the 911, the museum suffered a decline in attendance given the mood in the country at the time. The museum needed to increase attendance, charitable contributions and financial support from the community. With a limited budget, Engine, LLC was charged to develop an effective strategy to help achieve those goals. A two-pronged campaign was developed targeting history enthusiasts as well as the general public. This approach successfully helped generate awareness and increased attendance with both demographic groups. Campaign deliverables included print, OOH, transit, TV and radio.
